IMBCS #4

IMBCS #4 presented by Kia of Des Moines is coming up this Saturday, May 20 at the Lewis and Clark monument in Council Bluffs, IA. Located in the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River this course offers enough long downhill sections and equally long climbs to test riders of all abilities. THOR, the local IMBA trail club, has done an outstanding job of designing and maintaining the trail system. The competition will be as fierce as is the course. The race loops kick off at the top of the bluff with a downhill run through deep gullies and bermed turns that will eventually end at the very bottom of the course. A
series of switchback climbs and acid-relieving downhill stretches gradually take you back to the top. Hold on to your water bottle! The last climb to the finish is a 200 yard gut buster known as Mount Never-rest! It’s the prime spectator spot for cheering on suffering racers. Sport/Expert race loop is approximately 5 miles. Beginner/First Timer race loop is 3.5 miles.
The Council Bluffs Parks and Rec. Dept. has done a beautiful job renovating the monument! It extends to the edge of a bluff where you can see the river and the Omaha skyline in full view. There are modern bathrooms, running water, and a phone at the monument. Parking is not allowed at the monument during the race so plan on parking along the road and walking up the hill to the staging area

Take I-29 to the north side of Council Bluffs. Take the north 25th St exit. Go south (towards the gas stations) on 25th St to Ave G. Go east(left) on Ave G to 8th St. Go north(left) on 8th St until it curves to the east and turns into Mynster Springs Rd.

IMBCS #3

Hello all,

IMBCS presented by Kia of Des Moines race #3 is coming up this Sunday, May 7 at Camp Ingawanis, near Waverly, IA. If you are not familiar with the course at Camp Ingawanis, it has some of the best mountain biking trails in the region. The course has a lot of everything, including technical singletrack, challenging climbs, fast descents and some very fast flat sections. Carl Buchanon, Jeff Kerkove and a few others have put a lot of work into the already existing trails to make the course even better than in years past.

Due to the heavy rains this season, the course will be confined to the north side of the creek. The course will consist of a lap that will be in the neighborhood of 6 – 7 miles. Parking and the race start area will be at the north end of the camp.

Take highway 3 east out of Waverly. Turn right (south) on 39th St. SE. Head south on 39th St. SE to Grand Ave. Continue south on Grand Ave until you get to the main gate, 2485 Grand Ave.
